Education Manager- Cambridge Community Television (CCTV)

Reports to: Executive Director 

The Education Manager is responsible for CCTV’s training and education program, This includes scheduling regular Media Arts & Technology classes,  Foundational Technology classes, and group and professional development classes for nonprofits, business and City agencies. The Education manager works closely with  the Cambridge Public Library, the City of Cambridge Community Development Department and other local education partners. This position hires and manages part-time faculty and assigns CCTV staff  to community classes and trainings. The position provides oversight of training facilities alongside the Studio Operations Manager. The Education Manager supports and advances digital equity, learning,  community connection and creative media production in the City of Cambridge and beyond.

 

This is a full-time benefits eligible position. CCTV offers competitive benefits including flexible work hours, generous PTO, retirement and health insurance benefits.CCTV is currently open to the public 4 days a week. This position is currently a hybrid position with required in-studio time of at least 2 days (or 16 hours) a week. Must be available for some night and weekend classes.  The starting salary is $55,000-$60,000 annually.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and supporting all in-person and online media production classes. 
  •  Develop and maintain the training curriculum and class materials for video production and editing classes as well as creative classes (such as screenwriting and comedy) and related programs for ongoing CCTV members and the wider community. This includes classes aimed at seniors and tech beginners as well as classes in languages other than English (Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin etc.) 
  • Schedule and help promote regular online & in-person workshops, class exhibitions and screenings, and knowledge sharing events for members and the public
  • Plan and facilitate special workshops with and for collaborators, including the Cambridge Public Library, various City departments, and nonprofit agencies. Work with partners to create clear pathways for media education. 
  • Manage, schedule and train trainers and facilitators. Recruit and hire new part-time trainers and prepare trainer payroll
  • Update featured classes on the website and maintain on-demand class library

Oversee all communications with workshop participants, including wait lists, cancellations, reminders, class evaluations, etc.

  • Be a thought partner to staff and E.D. on new classes and programs
  •  Work to broaden CCTV’s reach in the community and deepen engagement of existing members.

 

Preferred Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred training and/or degree in film, digital arts, media, education or some combination. Preferred 3-5 years of experience in media production or with a PEG television station 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Mac operating and editing systems.
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of video production; cameras, lighting, sound engineering, editing, basic web design and maintenance, and uploading videos to the web and social media. 
  • Project and people management experience
  • Teaching, training or other experience working in a community setting with a diverse population including seniors.
