Meet the Board! Katie Duval

Hey MassAccess Members! We loved seeing each and every one of you at our Meet & Greets this Fall. If you couldn’t make it or we didn’t get a chance to talk, we wanted to give you an opportunity to meet us! Now, a little bit about me… Hi! I’m Katie Duval, the Executive Director at Medfield TV. I joined the MassAccess board in 2020 and it has been a busy but fun and rewarding experience ever since. I joined the board because I wanted to serve the greater community media industry and give back to MassAccess, an organization that had been so helpful to me in my early career.

I currently serve in 3 leadership positions on the MassAccess board:

• Vice President: I assist the President in decision-making processes, fill in during his absence, and provide guidance to my fellow board members.
• Vendor Relations Chair: I correspond with the many companies that provide my colleagues and I with the tools they need to serve their communities, and give them opportunities to have face time with new and existing customers.
• Governance Chair: I work with my committee to update policies, interview prospective board members, and provide guidance to our colleagues who have questions concerning their center and town.

I love serving on the board because I learn something new every day. I stay educated about the issues that affect our stations and industry, which has given me the confidence to better support my colleagues and my community.

My favorite MassAccess event is the Fall Meet & Greet series because I enjoy traveling to other member stations. Seeing how they run their facility inspires me to make positive changes at my own station! The small setting also encourages 1:1 conversations. I’ve made new friends and built strong professional relationships with my colleagues through these Meet & Greets.

I have a million creative hobbies outside of work but some of my favorites are baking, cooking, cross stitching, reading, concerts, video games, and tabletop board games (shout out to all my fellow nerds!). I also love spending time with my incredibly intelligent and supportive husband, Mike, and our two resident biscuit-makers, Roxy & Indy.
