OVERVIEW: Medway Cable Access (MCA) is a non-profit community television station seeking a full-time experienced Access Coordinator/Operations Assistant to join our team. The Access Coordinator/Operations Assistant is responsible for developing, coordinating and producing community based productions for MCA cable channels, livestreams, and website while also maintaining day to day operations. This position reports to the Studio Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Familiarity with PEG Access is a plus.

Appointment of the final candidate will be contingent upon the results of CORI check, background check with fingerprinting, and driving record check.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in media production or related field.
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate and balance multiple community video projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nonlinear editing and digital media software (FCPX, Adobe Premier, Tricaster)
  • Experience with playback software (Cablecast System preferred)
  • Proven experience in Television studio and ENG field production environments with a strong portfolio showcasing your storytelling abilities and technical skills
  • An outgoing personality and ability to work with the public
  • Patience and a willingness to share knowledge and teach
  • Flexibility with other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation and be capable of loading, unloading and setting up video equipment from personal vehicle to site without assistance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programming Coordination:

  • Under the direction of the Studio Manager, produce local access programs to use as a teaching and engagement platform for community members.
  • Assist with scheduling, playback of public and government-related programming
  • Create and hold adult/youth video programs, workshops and other activities.
  • Assist High School Video Tech teacher with after school video club and producing morning announcements
  • Coordinate coverage and crew for productions.
  • Produce programs as assigned by the Studio Manager.
  • Assist in producing biannual live town meetings.

Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with MCA staff, volunteers, town officials, civic organizations, and community stakeholders to develop engaging, high-quality programming that aligns with community expectations.
  • Assist in producing biannual live town meetings

Technical Infrastructure:

  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of technical infrastructure, including town hall facilities, studio equipment, camera, editing software, playback system, and streaming platforms
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide necessary upgrades

Compensation

  • Compensation package includes salary, healthcare and dental (with MCA contribution), retirement plan and paid time off. Salary commensurate with experience. This full-time position is based in our TV studio located in the High School.
