Education & Production Coordinator Job Description

The Education & Production Coordinator is an experienced educator and media professional on Medfield TV’s staff, responsible for supporting community producers, volunteers, and students in creating high-quality multimedia content. They will expand and lead Medfield TV’s media education programs to help volunteers develop their media skills and become confident content creators.

This is a full-time non-exempt position working at least 35 hours per week during non-traditional hours. General schedule will be 12 PM - 7 PM Tuesday - Friday, and 10 AM - 5 PM on Saturday. Expected schedule may vary depending on production schedules and volunteer needs. Reports to the Multimedia Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital Media Lessons and Instruction
    • Develop curriculum, syllabi, and lesson plans for classes, and other training programs for members
    • Schedule and teach new and existing group classes and one-on-one training for youth and adults
    • With Executive Director approval, schedule outside instructors to teach classes and workshops, ensuring all instructors have proper training, knowledge, and support for a successful classroom experience
    • Create additional educational resources and events, such as media clubs or film screenings
    • Create a supportive, open, and accessible learning environment for all
  • Production Scheduling and Equipment Management
    • Manage incoming event coverage requests from the community, coordinating resources and personnel as needed.
    • Ensure successful coverage of Medfield TV productions and certain Medfield community events
    • Schedule TV studio and podcast studio reservations, equipment check in/out, and editing time
    • Schedule equipment reservations, check equipment in/out, conduct minor maintenance on equipment, track inventory, and keep the Executive Director informed of any equipment issues, needs, or replacements.
  • Production and Technical Support
    • Support volunteers and producers in their media training journey and ensure community producers and volunteers are properly trained to use facilities and equipment
    • Accompany volunteers on location-based shoots in town, providing guidance and hands-on assistance
    • Serve as a resource for volunteers, answering questions about equipment use and digital media skills.
    • Monitor volunteer skills and provide additional coaching and training where needed
    • Be a role model and technical resource for students, volunteers, interns, and producers
    • Facilitate productions in-studio and in the field, including guiding producers and encouraging them to utilize the volunteer list/POINT App for crew
  • Volunteer Coordination and Outreach
    • Conduct orientations with new volunteers, introducing them to the Medfield TV facility and opportunities
    • Hold regularly scheduled Member Meetups to promote networking and idea sharing among volunteers
    • Connect community producers with properly-trained volunteers to crew their shows
    • Track volunteer training and maintain list of volunteers for distribution to community producers
    • Post all volunteer opportunities on the POINT App, and send timely emails/messages to inform volunteers about upcoming projects and needs
    • Promote media education opportunities by scheduling visits to schools and submitting articles to local newspapers, and school newsletters
  • Ensures successful coverage of Medfield TV productions and Medfield community events
    • Fields requests from the public to cover events in town, posts opportunities to POINT, and invites volunteers to record and edit events.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with team to develop and support classes, shows, and fundraisers which uphold Medfield TV’s mission
  • Suggests new Medfield TV initiatives which support the advancement of Medfield TV’s Vision
  • Assists in the procurement of supplemental revenue by working with team to fundraise, write grants, plan fundraising events, and provide production services
  • Record and edit Medfield TV productions and certain Medfield community events, as needed and as assigned
  • Continually elevates their skills through continuing education and the creation of new content
  • Answer phones and emails

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in communications, media production, or equivalent, or 1-2 years of relevant experience in the field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Experienced in non-linear editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro X, including still and motion graphics
  • Experienced in operating video cameras and DSLR cameras
  • Has experience guiding crews through pre- to post-production
  • Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends to cover necessary events. Some tasks may be done remotely with advanced permission of the Executive Director
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Has the ability to lift and carry the equipment necessary for each production
  • Exercises patience with new learners
  • Able to use sound judgement when problem-solving and making decisions
  • Must pass a CORI Check

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in community media, nonprofit organizations, or educational settings
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Monday
  • Familiarity with volunteer management platforms such as the POINT app

Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000K/yr commensurate with experience
