Job Summary
The Youth Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for encouraging and overseeing all youth related programs and activities. The Youth Coordinator’s primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as primary contact for all youth-related inquiries and projects.
- Recruit and retain youth involvement.
- Facilitate all aspects of youth programs and activities including, but not limited to Video Clubs, After School Enrichment Programs, Youth Classes & Events and School Projects. Create and implement curriculum for youth programs / training programs.
- Serve as liaison for schools and youth organizations.
- Partner with educators across the school system to encourage media literacy. Facilitate/assist students, schools and youth organizations to develop and produce / present programming.
- Facilitate/assist with the coverage of schools’ and youth organizations’ activities / events. Coordinate and manage part-time youth instructors as needed.
- Manage internship programs.
- Manage the social media for youth programs.
Furthermore, the Youth Coordinator will provide general service including, but not limited to:
- Promote the Access Corporation and its resources. Encourage membership development and involvement.
- Enforce WCAT Policies & Regulations.
- Scheduling facility and equipment use and checking out / in equipment.
- Train and assist staff and community members in the use of WCAT’s resources.
- Provide general membership assistance as needed.
- Assist with member and / or WCAT productions as needed.
Qualifications that would be beneficial for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, multimedia or other related fields.
- Knowledge of PEG media, access television studio and field equipment.
- Background in production and multimedia and ability to teach / share knowledge.
- Possess strong computer, organizational & communication skills.
- Possess strong customer service skills and experience working with youth.
- Possess group facilitation skills and ability to motivate individuals.
- Experience with curriculum development & implementation.
- Passion for media education, working knowledge of media literacy issues and related technical skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Final Cut Pro.
- Proficient using social media.
The successful candidate should have the ability to work with frequent interruptions. Be willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings & some weekends. Must be energetic, reliable & confident, with the ability to lift, move and operate equipment.
