Reports to: Executive Director
The Programming Manager is responsible for the programming on all of Cambridge Community Television’s (CCTV) channels, including three cable channels, streaming, video on demand platforms and podcast apps. The Programming Manager establishes relationships with individual CCTV member producers and manages all media created by and submitted to CCTV. This role determines and communicates monthly programming themes and manages thematic submissions. A strong applicant will have experience or familiarity with digital broadcast systems, content management systems, database applications and social media.
The Programming Manager works closely with the Station Operations Manager, Assistant Director of Community Production, Assistant Director of Community Relations, front desk team and the entire CCTV team for member support, program development and coordination of events.
Other responsibilities include preparing cohesive, entertaining and informative daily schedules for three cable channels, sourcing theme-appropriate programs from other community access stations via Mass Media Exchange and Telvue, and managing digital signage. The programming manager also coordinates CCTV’s Karen Aqua Gallery, profiles gallery artists and ensures gallery themes are aligned with CCTV’s mission.
The position requires attention to detail, excellent organizational, technical, and problem solving skills, and generous people skills. An interest in cutting-edge and alternative media is helpful, as is a knowledge of Cambridge. Knowledge of and commitment to working in a community of all ages that is racially, ethnically and economically diverse is strongly preferred. This is a full-time benefits eligible position. CCTV offers competitive benefits including generous PTO, retirement and health insurance benefits. The starting salary range is $56,300-$60,000 annually.
Cambridge Community Television is currently open to the public 4-5 days a week. This position requires at least 3 days per week of in-studio time. Attendance at some in-person events is also required. Must be comfortable and available for evening shifts.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Scheduling 24/7 programming on three community cable channels and video on demand channels. Selecting, managing and curating monthly content themes
- Managing all new media traffic from local, regional and national channels in addition to content produced at CCTV
- Interacting with and supporting all CCTV member media producers, hosts and content providers
- Training and onboarding live CCTV member producers and podcasters
- Operation of the Cablecast digital playback system
- Supervising interns and volunteers
- Managing gallery exhibits
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred training and/or degree in Communications, Broadcasting or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience at a PEG, public or educational television station
- Knowledge of streaming and social media channels
- Experience with Mac operating and editing systems
- Some knowledge of the technical aspects of video production; production, cameras, lighting, sound engineering, Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro editing, current production standards, basic web design and maintenance, and uploading video to the web.
- Some education or training in photography, videography and editing
- Ability to research and troubleshoot video and podcast equipment
- Project Management Experience: set goals, objectives, track progress and meet deadlines and budget requirements
- Experience with or ability to train others on television and podcast equipment
- Interest in and ability to collaborate on new or creative projects together with CCTV team members
